Freerunner (a.k.a Pete Simpson) is a former British soldier turned sound engineer and DJ. Dragged up in Liverpool, he now considers Manchester, the Capital of Music, as his home. After learning to DJ the hard way in 2005 – using vinyl – he has always been an early adopter of new technologies. He developed into a fully-fledged and successful sound engineer at SSR in Manchester (, where his eyes were opened to the potential of music, both live and digital. A bit of an adrenaline junkie, he is always finding new ways to injure himself.

Lawrence and his partner are regular attendees at Alert! so you probably know him already.

He is also studying for a diploma in audio engineering at Futureworks in Manchester and creates his own remixes and original productions.

He plays an upfront mix of vocal progressive house using Ableton Live software – enabling him to create live mashups and unique remixes.

Lawrence has now been asked to perform a regular DJ slot on North Manchester 106.6 FM – That’s on Friday nights from 8 pm until 10 pm, for information visit

jdJim Dusty

Originally from Chester, Jim Dusty has been DJing for 5 years. Now in Manchester, his residencies at Alert! and Aftershock have established his reputation on the Manchester dance/fetish scene for tough’n’techy house.

His DJing career stretches way back to gigs with Mark ‘Aggy’ Armitage (Missoula/Disco Disco); Roger Da’Silva(Spirit/Maddisons); eSquire; Vicky Devine (Judgement Sundays Ibiza); Lee Yeomans  (Fire, MOS); and of course Nik Denton(Toolbox Records, Aftershock, TRADE).

He likes to listen to all sorts of music but his favourite and accomplished style is house music (particularly tech house and vocal funky house). He has a particular passion for rediscovering trance through the fringes of tech house. As a seasoned clubber on the D’n’B and Trance scene, he’s not afraid to mix it up and introduce new vibes but keeping with the flow. He says “I believe the clubbing experience has gotta make you dance your tits off with a smile, and when I’m behind the decks, I’ll be doing just that. Full of energy, hands in the air, BIG smile :D:D Love it!”

Already making a big name for himself, this talented DJ joined the Alert! team in 2014 and has proven himself to be extremely popular with club members, not only for the great music he plays but because he most often does that wearing nothing more than boots and a jock!

He is often seen spinning the discs – or at least pushing the buttons – at RoB Shop and Cruise events and went down a storm with customers at Alert! Brief Encounter – our underwear party!

Brett Denning

Brett is one of the newest members of our DJ team but has already proved to be hugely successful bringing an additional dimension to our DJ line-up and some awesome tunes to the dance floor. When he is playing you are sure to want to get down and dirty!

Special Guest DJ

John Aggy

John has been a fixture of the north-west clubbing scene for more years than he cares to remember. Having cut his teeth around the scene in Liverpool during the early 90’s he eventually secured a residency at Garlands which provided the opportunity to open the first gay all-nighter there ( ‘Queer’) and be one of the first people to ever play at the newly opened G-Bar. His love of the amazing music being played around the scene in London during this period at clubs like Trade and FF saw him drawn toward the Manchester scene which had embraced the same sounds via clubs such as the legendary Danceteria and Paradise Factory where he eventually secured a residency.

After finally finishing his degree in 2001 (Advanced Poodle Couture 2:1) he returned to DJing via a long-term residency at Legends which led to his involvement with not only the burgeoning bear bash and Manfest events but a club called Barracks which eventually became Alert where he can still be found along with Lawrence, Pete, David and Ade. He has recorded several tracks himself over the years, most notably with Paul ‘F1′ King under their own names or the pseudonym ‘Sluts’. John has plans to produce more music in 2011 the royalties from which he will use to keep his beard in the manner to which it has become accustomed.’
